2009-2010 - Surviving Benign Neglect

Between health issues at home and other reasons and excuses, the bees had to survive on their own for over two years. Sadly, the hives dwindled to two during this time.

I did harvest honey in 2010 from the one hive that made enough for me to take any.

Things I learned were: I may look stupid with the head band but it keeps the sweat out of my eyes, extracting the honey after dark solves the bees getting into everything as long as I do all the equipment cleanup before daylight, and bees need some maintenance to keep the hives healthy.
